We hope everyone has enjoyed the first week of summer vacation! For parents who have QMS students with glasses, this is our last call for these poor sets of glasses who have lost their faces. If they belong on your child's face, please call us or stop in to claim them. Otherwise, we will donate them through a local eye doctor.

Third graders from Ms. Richards’ class visited the Lil Orioles Preschool to see their Book Buddies this month!

Thank you, Mrs. Lewis, for taking the time to get these positive messages down for our kids today for their last day! We appreciate our parents!

Thank you to a grant Mrs. Frisbie was awarded, Mrs. Maurer’s class received new flexible seating and standing desks. Her first hour class did a great job assembling the new pieces with the guidance of Mr. Demeuse.

Mrs. Miller's physical science students ended the semester by making mouse trap cars and demonstrating their knowledge of newtons laws. The students had to plan their project, using only recycled materials and one mouse trap. Their goal was to travel at least 2 m and students received rewards for longest distance, fastest car and most creative.

The QMS staff and students brought back their annual competition this year with an EPIC kickball battle. Teams from each grade level got their chances against the staff with mixed individual results. However, the staff ended the game with a walk-off kick from Mr. Dunn to score Mr. Barnes with a fantastic headfirst slide. It was a great way to cap off a great school year before our awards next week.

QMS collected items to donate to the Sonshine Food Pantry as part of our Staff versus Student fundraiser and kickball competition.

As noted in the robocall and email many families have received in the last hour or two, we apologize for the delay on messaging for our middle school awards recipients. We worked out the kinks on our honor roll system and are proud to announce that we have just over 250 students receiving various awards (from honor roll to teacher-given awards). If you have a question about an award or message you received, please contact our office. We look forward to celebrating our QMS kids next Monday and Tuesday!

Quincy comes away with two victories on Senior Day The Orioles hosted Reading Friday for an afternoon double header. Quincy played errorless defense behind a dominating performance from senior Danica Skirka who pitched a complete game allowing 4 hits and striking out 10 which put her over 300 career strikeouts for her career at Quincy! Congratulations Dani! The Orioles offense was lead by fellow seniors Deziray Skirka who had two hits and two RBis and Abby Burritt who knocked in one run on two hits in the 6-1 victory. Danica Skirka and Shaylee Cope each added a hit. Miley Poindexter collected two hits and stole two bases giving her 41 steals on the season tying the school record for a season. The Orioles out scored the Rangers 14-6 to take the game 2 win. Miley Poindexter drove in 7 runs on two hits and in the top of the third inning stole second base for her 42nd steal this season to give her the school previously held by Betsy Hoeflinger in 2008. Congratulations Miley! Hannah Brown pitched a complete game allowing just 3 earned runs and striking out 4. Quincy collected 13 hits in the game. Seniors Deziray Skirka and Abby Burritt continued their big day collecting 2 hits each. Makiya Feltner drove in two on two hits. Pitcher Hannah Brown helped herself out with 2 hits and scored 3 times. Shaylee Cope doubled, Taylor Lewis singled and Cali Richards drove in two with a single. Quincy finished third in the Big 8 with a 10-4 record and are 16-15 overall as the Orioles will travel to Homer Tuesday to start District play

Quincy Scores Two Big Wins over Reading on Senior Night The Quincy Orioles celebrated Senior Night with a pair of Big 8 Conference wins over rival Reading. In two competitive games the Orioles came away with a 9-8 win in extra innings and a 5-1 win. In game one there were plenty of heroics. The Orioles never led in the game until Christian Craven slammed a 1-0 fastball to centerfield to score Bryson Estlow with the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Landon Beardon had a huge 3 run double in the 7th inning to push the game to extra innings. The Orioles took advantage of 14 Ranger walks to stay in the game. Jimmy Maynard also had a big game with one hit, 2 runs scored and two RBI. Craven led the way with 2 hits and 2 RBI. He also pitched in the 6 th inning recording two big outs. Alex Barry and Estlow scored two runs. Perhaps the best highlight came from the pitching combo of Maynard, Craven and Ryan Kempter who came on in relief of Maynard to get the win. Maynard entered the game in the 2nd inning and worked into the 6th inning before being relieved by Craven and Kempter. In game two the Orioles rode the pitching of Mason Graves who threw a complete 4 hit game with 9 Rangers punch outs to get a 5-1 win. Graves also added two hits and an RBI. Craven was at it again at the plate with two more hits while lead off hitter Brennen Allman added two hits and Kempter one. Barry had a key sacrifice fly to score a key run in the 5th inning to add on a run. The Orioles close out Big 8 Conference play with a 9-5 record. They are 15-12 overall and travel to Jackson Lumen Christi on Saturday with a return matchup with the Titans.
