Quincy Varsity Bowling went on an adventure Wednesday traveling to Joey Armadillos to take on Brandywine.
In boys action Quincy took baker one, 163-123 but struggled to mark in baker two dropping that game by just 1 pin 137-138. Quincy took overall totals and the 6-4 lead headed to singles.
In singles action Quincy captured another 7 points with Brody Carroll (163), Ethan Janssen (147), and Tyler White (189) all scoring. Quincy took the win 779-741.
In game two it was a back and forth match with both teams marking. Quincy was lead by Carroll, whos hot hand lead all bowlers on the night with a 225. Westin Parker scored with a 143, and Drew Carlisle with a 156. Quincy won game two 884-846 and the match 22-8.
"The score doesn't always paint the full picture. This was a back and forth match that could have went the other way in just a couple frames. It was a total team effort with every boy scoring in singles action. Brody really showed up in game two and captured the win for us" Coach Craig
In girls action the Lady O's battled shorthanded. Despite having just 4 bowlers Quincy threw some decent baker scores going 123 and 138. In singles action Ally Janssen again lead the Os and all bowlers on the night going 166 and 174 scoring Quincy's two points. The O's dropped the match 28-2.
Quincy is back in action on Monday for Senior Night at Midway Lanes vs Jonesville.

Brookelyn, a QHS Senior, and Clare, a QHS Junior, were guest speakers today in Mr. Barnes's afternoon health classes at QMS. They came in to talk about high school life and being good leaders. Both girls are extremely involved at Quincy High School, and both have been great role models for our future high schoolers.

QHS boys bowling faced off against Burr Oak on Monday night at Midway Lanes.
Quincy struggled to string marks together in baker play capturing 4 of the 10 baker points. Headed in to singles the O's put the foot on the gas and never looked back. All 5 Quincy bowlers took game one singles and overall totals. In game two it was much of the same as the O's saw 4 of the 5 take their points, taking game two, and overall totals on the night.
The star of the show was Quincy girls anchor Ally Janssen who bowled with the boys since Burr Oak does not have a girls team. Ally anchored the boys team on the night and took down Burr Oaks 5 spot in both matches.
The O's shot 775 and 817 to Burr Oaks 569 and 692. Quincy won the match 23-7
Brody Carroll 135,143
Westin Parker 125,121
Ally Janssen 183,193
Drew Carlisle 189,181
Tyler White 143,179

We would like to congratulate the following QHS students who were awarded Student of the Month for the month of January!

The students have been working hard on their minis and learned how to work with water-slide transfers (pictures will be in next week's post). Another piece of exciting news comes from the heroes over at Golden Rhino Games in Ypsilanti, who donated a whole table's worth of supplies, minis, rules, and a playmat with terrain. This was a very generous offer and we really appreciate them helping out! Stay tuned to see the kids use those supplies as the year goes on!

Mrs. Neusbaum's class celebrated National Hot Chocolate Day today since we don't have school tomorrow. Students could choose to add marshmallows, chocolate chips, whipped cream and a chocolate spoon. A big thank you to Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Ostrander for donating the toppings!

We are BACK! It was great to have everyone back at school. Here is this week's update:

With the club underway, students have begun showing their painting prowess on their first couple models. From base coats, to highlights, to dry rushing. They are learning all sorts of painting styles and techniques. They've even shown their creativity by using grass tufts to give their models some spiky hair!
