QMS Football Victorious in Last Home Games of the season.

The 7th grade team won 28-24 in a rematch with visiting Sand Creek. The two teams played to a 6-6 earlier in the season. The Orioles gave up two big scores to fall behind but was energized with Brenden Preston’s 60 yard touchdown and a 75 yard interception return for a score by Lane Wood. The Orioles got a couple of defensive stops to open the 2nd half and then used big play touchdowns from Cooper Adams and Jefferson Wright to hold off the Aggies and record the win.

In the 8th grade game Logan Hayes returned the opening kick off 65 yards and the Orioles raced out to a big lead against visiting Stockbridge who had no answers for the Orioles who shared the ball (6 different players scored touchdowns) enroute to a 53-0 win. The Orioles played well in all phases of the game and limited the Panthers to just one 1st down on defense. Matthew Smith led the defensive effort with 5 tackles. Talon Thomas returned two punts for touchdowns. His older brother Tommy who was playing in his 1st game back from injury also scored his 1st TD of the year. Wyatt Paul, LJ Stayner, and Greyson Sargent also added rushing touchdowns. The Orioles did not attempt a pass. Sargent and Drake Sills scored 2 2pt conversations and Michael Vallo added a 2 pt play. Talon Thomas kicked an extra point.

On the day both Oriole teams combined for 10 total touchdowns and tore up the turf with well executed plays. The 8th grade Orioles move to 5-0 and the teams close out the 2025 season next Wednesday at Union City in a combined 7/8 grade game.

QMS Football victorious at Bronson!

The QMS Football Team traveled to Bronson on Wednesday night and won an exciting back and forth game with the Vikings by a score of 26-24.

The Orioles fell behind early and trailed 16-14 at half time. Both teams played a field position game for much of the 2nd half. The Orioles took the lead after a short Bronson punt with 6 minutes remaining in the game when a healthy LJ Stayer scored from 10 yards out putting the Orioles on top. A good Quincy kick-off pinned the Vikings deep in their own territory. On 3rd down Talon Thomas intercepted a Viking pass and raced 50 yards for a pick 6 score to put the Orioles up by 10 pts. Bronson went back down the field and scored with 40 seconds to go to close the gap to 26-24. The Orioles successfully covered an on-side kick and was able to run the clock out for their 4 straight win and move their record to 4-0. Thomas scored twice on the night. Stayner and Greyson Sergent also scored. The Orioles were led up front by Emerson Dodd and Maverick Abbeg. A host of Orioles defenders made big plays when needed and the Orioles did what they needed to do to get the win

QMS has some new friends in the Gun Lake area, namely Ms. Mina and Ms. Dot, who made the drive today to donate over 20 bags of plastic lids for our project of turning lids into park benches. Please see our news article on our website for more details. Wow, what an amazing day and example of working together that our kids got to experience today! The QMS Football team faced its stiffest competition thus far and came away with a hard fought 16-12 win over visiting Maple Valley on Wednesday night to move their season record to 3-0.

The Orioles made some uncharacteristic mistakes early in the game but held an 8-6 halftime lead thanks to a Grayson Sargent score and conversion.

The Lions scored to take the lead 12-8 and the Orioles answered with a Talon Thomas to Logan Hayes 30 yd touchdown pass and another Sargent 2pt conversion to end the 3rd quarter.

Maple Valley went on another drive but the Orioles Defense held and the Lions turned the ball over on downs with 5 minutes to go. The Orioles put together 3 straight 1st downs and were able to run out the clock securing their 3rd win of the year.

Plenty of “game balls” to go around but the Orioles felt that it surely was a TEAM effort to get the job done.
