Special attention for the Senior Girls! NIKA puts on a very special event each year for the QHS graduating gals. Please consider attending and enjoying the Senior Tea.

Mrs. Sellers English class is studying the "Lord of the Flies". Activities involve reading, building models of the island, and sticky note discussions. Which leader of the island would you be?

Mrs. Barve's High School Earth Science students are studying the atmosphere and its composition. Today, Earth Science students performed a lab in which they determined the percent of oxygen in the air. By lighting a flame in a confined space students could estimate the amount of O2 that has been burned up. This helped them determine the approximate percentage of oxygen in the air. Students made a confined volume by trapping the air in the test tube.

Students from Quincy's Physics and Forensic Science classes had the opportunity to attend Trine University's Impact Your Future event. Quincy along with other local high school students explored fields like Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical/Forensic Science, and Biology/Environmental Biology. They attended two sessions where they discussed career paths and participated in hands-on activities such as crafting a kinetic finger for prosthetic innovation, exploring a digital autopsy table, and studying bioluminescence. Students also had the opportunity to make ice cream through Frosty Formulations in Food Engineering, explored The Anatomy of Motion, and enjoyed meals in the cafeteria, including free ice cream. The event, with a tour of the impressive facilities, provided a great opportunity for students to explore new fields and gain valuable insight to help make informed college and career decisions.

Reminder for the Seniors! The scholarship application deadline is quickly approaching!

Ms. Madison Barnes made the Impossible Shot today in PE! I pick two students who demonstrate good sportsmanship to take a shot at the end of each class. Students shoot from 6ft away with a tennis ball into a 6 inch tube. Nice job Madison!

In Mrs. Sims's Advanced Biology class, students are learning about the Nervous System. Before they conducted their first dissection, students practiced using dissection tools and anatomical terms by dissecting pickle people they created. Then to review parts of the brain before their test, students dissected a sheep's brain.

Bus #9 is running about 15-25 minutes late this morning due to mechanical issues. A spare bus will be used to complete the route.

Mrs. Barve's 7th grade MS Science class is learning about phase changes. The students modeled transitioning from a Solid to Liquid to a Gas in my class with movement. Students started close together representing a solid, then slowly moved away showing the transition from a solid to a liquid, and finally spread all throughout the classroom to show transitioning from a liquid to a gas molecule.
