About

Hello! My name is Mellissa Connin and I am the principal at Jennings’ Elementary.  I am a life-long Oriole. I spent my entire student career with Quincy Community Schools.  My first grade teacher was Carol Undeen, room 4.  I remember I wanted to grow up and become a teacher just like her.  I attended Eastern Michigan University where I earned my BS in education.

John Worth, my elementary principal, hired me to teach first grade at Jennings in 1993.  Shortly after I was hired, I earned my Masters in Education from Spring Arbor University with an early childhood endorsement.  This is my 34th year as an educator in Quincy.  During my time at Quincy Community Schools, I have taught first grade, multiage, 7th and 8th grade science, elementary technology, Media, elementary science and this is my fifth year as principal.

I believe that my job as principal is to recruit and support an amazing team of people that have a common vision, to do what is best for kids! We work hard together as a team to build a safe and fun learning environment that promotes development and education for all students.

I am married to Brian Connin, my high school sweetheart(also a Quincy Graduate) and we have two sons.  Dallas who is married to Corissa and have our oldest grandson Wayne.  Dalton is married to Carlee and just had our second born grandson Cooper.

Brian and I live on a small farm in Montgomery.  We have a menagerie of animals.  Our farm is home to three quarter horses, two donkeys, two goats, and a mess of ducks and chickens. I have four dogs(including Sir Arthur Jennings’ Therapy Dog) and two house cats. We like to go camping and trail riding with our side by side as a family.  We also enjoy riding our Harley’s

Being the principal of Jennings’ Elementary is my dream job.  I obtained my administration certification through MEMSPA and continue to work on my personal growth and development as the academic leader of our building.  I am so proud of my team and all the hard work they put in to do wonderful things for our students and each other!
