Quincy Schools & Green Schools Recognition
Posted by: Jason Ferrell (22-Apr-2008)

From the Superintendent: Joe Lopez

On Earth Day 2008, Quincy Community Schools received the Green Schools recognition by the State of Michigan.

Jennings, Quincy Middle School, and Quincy High School have all applied for Green Schools Recognition earlier in the year. All three buildings have qualified to receive a certificate signed by the Governor of Michigan and receive a Green Schools flag. Branch Intermediate School Superintendent Mike Beckwith will present the awards to each building.

To become a Green School, each building needed to document 10 items (out of 25) that their schools were involved in to help our planet. Some examples include... recycling of paper and cardboard, garden projects, raising money to buy land for a state park, birdhouse habitat project, tree planting programs, observing Earth Day, adopting an endangered animal etc.
